A new "abnormal" has surfaced due to all Cole's tests. Still no answer for the high white blood cell count, but we now know he has an abnormally low growth hormone. Perhaps an answer for why our little guy is still so little?
We now will be sent to a pediatric endocrinologist to further investigate but unfortunately, the rather rude receptionist said he could not get an appointment until May and when I calmly told her it was a little more urgent than that, she said our pediatrician would have to call and vouch for that.
So we are waiting for our doctor to do just that and then we will hopefully start down a new path that will hopefully lead us to Cole's health and growth!
I can not stress enough how thankful we are that he isn't "sick" throughout all of this, that he continues to be a source of joy and energy as a normal 18 month old should be (even if he looks like a walking 6 month old!). :) He is signing "more" all the time for food and drink and is completely off bottles and formula. He likes Carnation Instant Breakfast in the morning, loves fruit, chicken nuggets and all sweets!
Thanks again for all the kind comments. We'll update again if we learn anything new!

I didn't know that he was done with bottles! That is awesome!
I'm praying for you guys! I know that all of these visits to labs and specialists is draining, but praise the Lord that you live in a place where you have all of that readily available!
It sounds like he is a happy active little guy:-) Gotta love rude people, nothing like adding to your stress. Keeping you in prayer as you journey through this mystery.

Sounds like he likes some healthy foods. Hoping u get that appointment soon and all goes well. Praise be to God that all will be ok.:) Blessings to you all, Gidget
I am glad that you are getting some answers. When your pediatrician calls the office you will get in quickly. This happened to us, too and I was amazed by what a simple call from a doctor can do. What a blessing that Cole is feeling well during this process and that he is in a place where the medical attention and resources he needs is available to him. I know it is so hard to not have all the answers. Hang in there.
April :-) Waiting on NOC for Alesha
First, congratulations on a.) not bursting into tears as you spoke with Ms. Rude, and b.) not getting all medieval mama-bear on her. :o) Sounds like you were very reasonable in a time of stress.
I'm so glad you have an answer to some of the questions, and very glad to hear that he is happily oblivious to all the hubbub. You are doing an amazing job handling everything if he is playing, eating, and learning like nothing's going on.
Hugs to you,
Nancy
Praying you will get the answers soon! I am so glad to hear that Cole is doing so well and eating. We have dealt with doctor rudeness too -it stinks! I hope they have an attitude adjustment.

What a relief to eliminate some of the horrible illnesses that had been thrown out there. I hope that your answers continue to come. In the meantime, it sounds like you are enjoying your boy and he is taking everything in stride. Kids are so strong!!
